Florida Legalizes Medical Discrimination - The Protection of Medical Conscience Act Becomes Law
Переглядів 5 тис.Рік тому
Florida's Protection of Medical Conscience Act has sparked a firestorm of controversy, with proponents arguing for the protection of healthcare providers' and healthcare payors moral and religious beliefs. However, opponents assert that the law will create significant barriers to care by granting providers the ability to openly discriminate in the provision of medical services. Today we will lo...

I’ve been an LPN, in on the east coast in Delaware. I’ve worked in Med surge, skilled care and ambulatory care. I’m currently in school for my RN at 52. I’ve enjoyed my career and my stability. I’m currently working on a med surge floor and would love to become a wound care nurse and the possibilities that will open up as an RN

Because healthcare in the United Stated is so bad, I have not gotten treatment for injuries or illnesses. I then feel as if I cannot talk about those things because people will ask me why didn’t I go to the doctor???!!! Uhm because I either did not have health insurance or the care I would receive would be way too expensive. I just do not like talking to people anymore. We have to be one of the least empathetic nations. People who have not been in my shoes do not have a clue.

Many people in my life do not understand why I do not go to the doctor regularly. They accuse me of not wanting to take care of myself. I am a divorced single mom. I am having to help my son pay for college and work in a career that either does not give me paid time off or expects me to make up for the time I took off.

I already had a bachelors and wanted to make a career change because my earning potential was low.. I was only making 30k doing administrative work and I bumped up to 60-70k the first year of working with my LPN. And it was relatively quick to get since my bachelor's covered most of the prerequisite classes.

Not sure if she gave him the whole 2mg dose but that is a huge dose for a 95 year old. Maybe 0.25-0.5mg and it wouldn’t be IV. And Ativan usually makes delirium worse in the elderly. If they aren’t snowed, when they wake up they are worse.

As a hospice home health nurse it can be so rewarding helping someone pass how they want and provide comfort for their loved ones. The struggle is families not wanting to be involved so I spend more time with their loved ones then they do, elder neglect families who are not knowledgeable about hospice accusing you of trying to kill them faster. Tough

I would have sent him to the hospital via ambulance for a head cat and said he had an unwitnessed fall and then notified the doctor and family. I would have told the admin that when they give me the staff to do the neuro checks and a bedsitter because I’m not losing my license because of them.

The main reason that healthcare if going down the tubes is corporate ownership of hospitals and nursing homes and other health facilities. Corporates have no more capacities for patients. Their only concern is money, period. Healthcare needs to be done another way, possible like it was in the 1950's where Doctors owned the facilities.

I’m 2 weeks in on Zoloft and feel awful but I’m sticking with it but I have a question that isn’t mentioned much. I have chronic dry eye and Zoloft has made it so much worse. I do use my drops the eye dr gave me but they don’t seem to be working. Will this side effect go away with time. I’m tired of squinting and the sunlight just hurts my eyes even with sunglasses. Thankyou so much.

I escaped from the Mental Health unit. I did because I did not appreciate the hospital either. The opportunity presented itself when I was seated about 10 feet from a open, unlocked door. The Bad news was even though I still was dressed in the same clothing I was admitted with. No shoes though. I walked home about 2 miles. Middle of Jan. in UPSTATE NY is cold. I walked home about 2 miles, in my stocking feet.

My son 6 has his tonsils removed 4 days ago. Eats and drinks normally, released home after 3 hours after surgery. Not even one tear dropped 😂, was actually angry and couldn't wait to gets home. He hasn't been complaining about pain because I'm giving him paracetamol and ibuprofen as I was advised. Really, in my case not bad experience at all, neither for me nor for him.

10:39 I know I’m late to the party, but oh my heart breaks hearing this, for both of you. One time at my first job, we had a small kitchen fire in the SNF I was working in, but when the alarm is activated the patients’ doors would automatically shut at nearly the same time as the alarm itself would start going off. So I was with my patient, a sweet woman (with a wicked sense of humor, too!) who was bed-bound, and we both gasped as we turned around to see her door slam shut and the alarm sound. I asked to myself “what’s going on?” Before I could reassure her, she stared at me seriously as she said “I’ll protect you.” It wasn’t sarcasm (like she loved to dole out), it was instinct, and even if I tried to lighten the mood by having a playful banter with her of “no, *I* will protect you,” and even if it ended up being a small fire that was immediately put out, I’ve never forgotten that situation and how awful it was that both of us had to instinctually consider how we’d protect each other’s life if it came to it. I hate so deeply how this is something we have to think of in America, let alone in a caring profession.

Yes. And once we submit the claim the patient will be credited the amount billed without paying us so we basically eat it. There is no way to get payment from the insurance….Then patients ghost us. We can’t provide care for free because is how we pay our bills and student loans.
